Sea Defence Access Roadways

Sea Defence Access Roadways

The degree of coastal erosion is in the most part dependent on the state of coastal defences.

According to the British Geological Survey; “it has been estimated that across England and Wales 113 000 residential properties, 9000 commercial properties and 5000 hectares of agricultural land are within areas potentially at risk of coastal erosion”. This translated to around £7.7billion of assets that are at risk from coastal erosion.

Whether the sea defence options include soft engineering or hard engineering such as groynes, sea dikes, sea walls or revetments, the odds are that you are going to require temporary roadways in order to access this area because of the soft ground associated with beaches and coastal areas.
